All proceeds from the Third World Run are divided between four of the major Third World agencies to assist in their emergency relief and long-term development programmes. So far over £120,000 has been raised from previous Third World runs for these four benefiting agencies:Christian Aid, Concern, Oxfam and Trocaire.
Christian Aid is the official agency of 40 Churches representing most denominations in theUK and Ireland. It works in over 60 countries in partnership with local organisations, to alleviate poverty andhelp the poor find their own solutions. Christian Aid works where the need is greatest, with people and organisations of any faith and none. It also works at home, educating people about the causes of poverty and campaigning for changes in the way the world is run in order to ensure the disadvantaged have a fair chance in life.
Concern Worldwide is a non-denominational voluntary organisation devoted to the relief, assistance and advancement of people in need in less developed countries in the world. Emergency and long-term programs are financed and operated by Concern Worldwide in partnership with local bodies, international agencies and national governments. These programs are generally implemented by concern worldwide personnel and financed by public donations and co-funding. Concern Worldwide seeks to concentrate on the poorest of the poor in its countries of operation and seeks to engage the peoples of both donor and recipient countries more fully in the practical struggle against poverty and injustice in the world.
Oxfam Ireland is committed to working with people to overcome poverty, suffering and injustice. We believe that every person should live in a just world without poverty. Our aim is to make a sustainable livelihood, with access to essential services, equal rights and status, and physical security, a reality for people in developing countries.
Trocaire envisages a world where people's dignity is ensured, where basic needs are met, where there is equality in distribution of resources and where people are free to be the authors of their own development.
